Our students are the core of the MaastrichtMBA programme. Students with a broad diversity on nationality, age and even professional background. The insights and thoughts of our MBA students describe the true experience of MaastrichtMBA. This time we talked with our Lithuanian student Gabrielė Genytė. She works as integration project director at Stamicarbon, a world leader in improving the quality of life through innovation whilst bringing reliable and sustainable technologies to the market. Gabrielė joined our On-Campus track in September 2019.
It is a personal decision and reasons will be different for each applicant. I aim in advancing at work, developing new skills, and exploring topics beyond my direct responsibilities.
Before starting the program I convinced myself that hard knowledge will armor me for professional success. Three modules later I have a different goal. I still believe that understanding of business topics is crucial, although I see another trend of management in general and also for my personal growth. I learned by experience that trust and openness is the key to management success. I want to explore this concept and test it during my studies and assignments, such as group work or during the Leadership Development Trajectory.
I looked at various executive MBA’s around the Netherlands. I found interesting programs and made my decision on location. However, what makes the program speak to me is the carousel approach, bringing you closer to many highly motivated professionals for a whole week several times a year. I can plan these weeks and concentrate on studying versus spending weekends or evenings outside my home.
Digitalisation is everywhere. I work in the information technology department of my organisation where I intend to grow further. I enjoy the blend of more classical electives of MaastrichtMBA with two modules devoted to both Digital Management and Strategy. I participated in the Digital Management module where I learned about big data, AI, and the basics of it all. I am eager to delve into the Digital Strategy and theorise my work experience.
I see the On-Campus MBA as a playground where I allow myself to experiment on completely different topics and test theories on business in a safe environment. I find it spectacular to take something tangible that might be hurting business and look at it from the researcher’s point of view. It is different compared to the daily patterns of business. It is beneficial for me to break old habits go on and experiment.
The social part of the studies is the most enjoyable part for me, rediscovering studying is the next in line. This On-Campus MBA track allows me to combine both!
I can highly endorse MaastrichtMBA! You will enjoy motivated tutors, be challenged by your peers and learn about topics you might never hear before. The application procedure is very smooth and you will get all support from the recruitment office. They will help you with all questions if in doubt.
